چکیده

A self-learning system for preventing unsolicited commercial or bulk e-mail (UCE or UBE) is presented. It acts at the source of each e-mail message and controls the traffic going out of a network, thus avoiding common drawbacks of standard spam filtering techniques. The system is based on a token bucket mechanism proposed earlier. In this paper, it is shown how to develop this approach into a fully transparent and effective UCE prevention system by introducing adaptivity and learning capabilities. The first central component introduced in this paper is a framework for quantitatively analyzing the business model underlying UCE, allowing for insights into the effectiveness of filtering in the given situation. The second one is a strategy allowing the system to adaptively and intelligently (re-)configure itself in order to achieve almost arbitrarily high levels of transparency, i. e., to harm the business model underlying UCE without affecting regular e-mail users. Finally, a third component introduces adaptability for ensuring that only spam is blocked and that no regular mail traffic is affected.

Transparent Machine Learning Algorithm Offers Useful Prediction Method for Natural Gas Density

Machine-learning algorithms aid predictions for complex systems with multiple influencing variables. However, many neural-network related algorithms behave as black boxes in terms of revealing how the prediction of each data record is performed. This drawback limits their ability to provide detailed insights concerning the workings of the underlying system, or to relate predictions to specific ...

Advanced light-trapping effect of thin-film solar cell with dual photonic crystals

A thin-film solar cell with dual photonic crystals has been proposed, which shows an advanced light-trapping effect and superior performance in ultimate conversion efficiency (UCE). The shapes of nanocones have been optimized and discussed in detail by self-definition. The optimized shape of nanocone arrays (NCs) is a parabolic shape with a nearly linearly graded refractive index (GRI) profile ...

Lysosomal hydrolase mannose 6-phosphate uncovering enzyme resides in the trans-Golgi network.

A crucial step in lysosomal biogenesis is catalyzed by "uncovering" enzyme (UCE), which removes a covering N-acetylglucosamine from the mannose 6-phosphate (Man-6-P) recognition marker on lysosomal hydrolases. This study shows that UCE resides in the trans-Golgi network (TGN) and cycles between the TGN and plasma membrane. The cytosolic domain of UCE contains two potential endocytosis motifs: (...
